Srinagar, Dec 18 (KNO): A Hizbul Mujahideen militant who was injured in an encounter at South Kashmir’s Anantnag district yesterday and admitted to SMHS hospital, succumbed on Friday, officials said. Hizb militant Zaheer Abbas Lone, a resident of Pulwama sustained bullet injury in an encounter with security forces at Gund Baba area of South Kashmir, Thursday. He was put in ventilator at SMHS hospital but breathed his last on Friday afternoon. “His condition deteriorated and he succumbed at 1:15 pm,” hospital sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). On Thursday, Kashmir police had mentioned on its official Twitter handle that, "Encounter started between Militants & security forces at Gund Baba Khaleel, Anantnag One local HM Militant Zaheer Abbas Lone r/o Pulwama arrested in injured condition & shifted to hospital Kashmir". Zaheer was missing since November 1, when Hizbul Mujahideen chief Dr Saifullah got killed in an encounter at Rangreth area of Srinagar outskirts. His wife Rozy Jan died of a cardiac arrest on December 11. He is survived by his parents besides a 12-year-old son and 18-year-old daughter Insha—(KNO)
